About Istanbul Walking Experience: Dolmabahce to Ortakoy

When it comes to exploring Istanbul, there is no certain route to complete, every inch of this city is capable to surprise you! You can be spontaneous and relish your experience while discovering alternative walking routes.

Dolmabahce Palace built in 19th century is one of the most glamorous palaces in the world. It was the administrative center of the late Ottoman Empire with the last of Ottoman Sultans was residing there. 14 tons of gold were used to decorate ceilings in gold leaves, the largest crystal chandelier which weighs 4.5 tons was the gift of Queen Victoria. Actually we can describe this palace splendent but not vulgar at all. Dolmabahce Palace is located in the city center and it has a great view by the sea. Before stunned by the water gardens and fabulous architecture of the palace, you can have a Turkish breakfast by the sea!

After exploring Dolmabahce Palace we will take the road to Besiktas by walking through one of the most greenest pedestrian ways in Istanbul. At the end of the road we will stop and visit Turkish Naval Museum. Turkish Naval Museum. With its 6 separate exhibition hall, we will be able to see Ottoman naval uniforms, historical boats, belongings of greatest commanders, ancient maps as well as numerous wooden, metal and stone art crafts. 

Now we are back to road again and on our way to Ortakoy! 


We will arrive Ortakoy by walking in 20 minutes. This is where we will see Ortakoy Mosque which is one of the best examples of 19th century Ottoman architecture. After exploring Ortakoy Mosque, we will eat Kumpir which is a very popular and delicious street food in Istanbul. It is already sunset time, now we can watch the sun goes down to Bosphorus and drink Turkish tea! We can discover Ortakoy Bazaar where you can find original local handcrafts towards evening.

So in a nutshell: 

1) 10:00 - 12:00 Dolmabahce Palace and Breakfast 

2) 12:00 - 14:00 Walking to Besiktas and Naval Museum 

 3) 14:00 - 16:00 Walking to Ortakoy and Ortakoy Camii 

4) 16:00 - 17:00 Dinner and tea break by Bosphorus 

5) 17:00 - 18:00 Exploring Ortakoy Bazaar and second hand shops.
